Hockey Performance Development

Train the athlete
behind the player.

Hockey skill is expressed on the ice, but the physical qualities underneath it are trained year-round. RVX off-ice hockey training develops those qualities with coaching, progressive loading, speed work and objective testing.

We do not try to turn the gym into a rink. Off-ice training complements skating and hockey skill development by building a stronger, faster and more physically prepared athlete.

Off-Season Priorities

Build qualities that
transfer to hockey.

The off-season creates time to develop qualities that are harder to build when games, practices and travel dominate the weekly schedule.

01 · Acceleration

Speed Development

Linear acceleration, sprint mechanics, force application and change-of-direction work designed to improve how the athlete moves and produces speed off the ice.

02 · Force

Strength

Progressive strength training built around the athlete’s training age, movement quality and current needs—not generic hockey workouts.

03 · Explosiveness

Power

Jumping, landing, medicine-ball work and explosive strength methods used to improve the athlete’s ability to produce force quickly.

04 · Movement

Change of Direction

Deceleration, lateral movement and re-acceleration skills that improve athletic control and movement options away from the puck.

05 · Capacity

Hockey Conditioning

Energy-system development that prepares athletes to repeat high-intensity work and recover between efforts without turning every session into fatigue for fatigue’s sake.

06 · Feedback

Performance Testing

Speed, force, power and capacity testing can establish a baseline, guide training priorities and help determine whether the program is producing meaningful change.

Off-season first.
In-season when needed.

RVX supports hockey athletes across the training year. The emphasis changes with the calendar rather than forcing the same workload into every phase.

hockey training.

Off-ice hockey training—often called dryland training—develops physical qualities such as speed, strength, power, movement, conditioning and recovery away from the rink. At RVX, that work is designed to complement on-ice hockey development.

Do you offer off-season hockey training?

Yes. RVX’s off-season programs provide structured speed, strength, power, conditioning and performance testing, with the training plan progressing toward camp and the next competitive season.

RVX Approach

Train qualities. Keep the game on the ice.

Off-ice performance training should complement hockey—not imitate it. Build the athlete, then let skating and skill coaches develop the game.

Prepare for the next season.

Build speed. Build strength. Build power. Arrive ready.
